Machine monitoring for Jamnagar's brass-parts units — Industry 4.0 without new machines

Jamnagar turns brass parts for the world on automats, CNC lathes and VMCs. OpeEye puts a live piece count, rejects by reason and every stop on the owner's phone — set up on-site from Rajkot, ninety minutes away.

Short answer

OpeEye gives Jamnagar's brass-parts units a live count of pieces and rejects per machine, every stop with its reason, and OEE per machine and per job — from an operator tablet at each machine, with an auto-count box on the busiest ones, on automats, CNC lathes and VMCs alike. Nothing on the machines changes, and setup is on-site from Rajkot, usually the same week.

Which parts of Jamnagar do we set up in?

Jamnagar's brass units sit close together, which makes a day of demos easy. Where they are:

  • Shankar Tekri Udyognagar & GIDC Phase I — the oldest and densest part of the cluster: turned components, inserts and electrical accessories.
  • Dared — GIDC Phase II & III — newer and larger units, with CNC turning centres and VMCs alongside the automats.
  • Patel Colony & Digvijay Plot — small family units close to the city, many doing job work for larger exporters.
  • M.P. Shah Industrial Area & Hapa — mixed brass, casting and engineering units.

What Jamnagar machines — and why a register can't keep up

Jamnagar is known as the Brass City of India. Its units turn brass and other copper alloys into components for electrical accessories, plumbing and sanitary fittings, hydraulics and pneumatics, textile machinery and the auto industry — much of it for export. The work is high-volume: small parts, thousands of pieces per machine per shift, tight thread and dimension tolerances.

At that volume a hand-written count is a guess, and a bad batch is found at final inspection instead of at the machine. What the owner needs is a count per machine that nobody has to remember, and rejects logged with a reason while the batch is still running — so a worn tool or a drifting setting is caught after twenty bad pieces, not two thousand.

Industry 4.0 for a brass-parts unit

Many Jamnagar automats are older, cam-driven machines with no control to read data from — which is why “Industry 4.0” can sound like something that needs new machines. It does not. A tablet at the machine records the count, the rejects with their reasons and every stop, on any machine of any age; where a machine gives a cycle signal, an auto-count box counts every piece by itself.

That is the foundation every later step needs: OEE per machine, tool-life tracking per insert, rejects by cause per customer order, and quotes priced from real cycle times instead of estimates.

How on-site setup works in Jamnagar

Jamnagar is about 90 km from Rajkot, so a demo is usually possible within the week and setup the day after. We bring a tablet, show your own machines live in twenty minutes, then mount tablets on the machines you choose and train the floor in Gujarati. Production is not stopped.

For high-volume machines we note which ones would benefit from an auto-count box and fit those on a follow-up visit. Support afterwards is on WhatsApp and phone, the same day.

Jamnagar units that get the most out of OpeEye

High-volume automat units

Piece counts per machine without a clerk, and rejects by reason before the batch ships.

Exporters with quality reports

Rejects with causes per job and machine — the evidence a customer's quality report asks for.

Owners with two or three units

Every unit on one phone, each with its own supervisors and operators.

Questions from Jamnagar shop owners

Do you come to Jamnagar for the demo?

+

Yes. Jamnagar is about 90 km from Rajkot; demos in Shankar Tekri, Dared, Patel Colony, M.P. Shah Industrial Area, Hapa and Digvijay Plot are usually possible the same week.

Our automats have no CNC control. Can they still be monitored?

+

Yes. Monitoring does not need a control: the operator records counts, rejects and stops on a tablet at the machine, and on machines that give a cycle signal an auto-count box counts every piece by itself. Old and new machines appear on the same screen.

We run thousands of pieces a shift. Isn't entering every piece impossible?

+

Nobody enters pieces one by one. Operators enter counts in batches — a bin, a tray, an hour — and log rejects with their reason; where an auto-count box is fitted, the count is automatic. Each tablet entry takes a few seconds.

Can rejects be tracked by thread, dimension and finish problems separately?

+

Yes. The reject reasons are your own list — thread, dimension, burr, finish, material and anything else — and each reject is logged against the machine, the job and the operator with its reason.

How much does it cost for a Jamnagar unit?

+

₹399 per machine per month — the same whether the machine is on Manual (operators tap on a tablet) or Automatic (the machine counts itself). Automatic adds a one-time auto-count box per machine, installed by us, quoted in the demo; a direct controller connection, where the control supports it, uses one gateway shared by the floor. More than 15 machines: volume pricing on request. No per-user fees, no setup fee, no long contract, free 15-day trial. Tablets are the only hardware you buy, locally.
