Industry 4.0 and CNC machine monitoring across Gujarat

Gujarat’s machining is spread over a dozen clusters, each with its own product mix. We set up in all of them; the biggest have their own page — Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Vadodara, Anand and Surat.

A Jamnagar brass shop with forty automatic lathes and one supervisor needs a piece count that does not depend on memory and a rejection number by reason, per machine, before the batch ships. A Vadodara VMC shop with eight machines and long, mixed jobs needs setup-vs-plan and cost per piece. A Morbi machinery-parts unit needs the owner to know, from Rajkot or from a customer’s office, which machine stood idle and why.

Most of Gujarat’s engineering output comes from MSMEs — family-run units of five to fifty machines, many of them older machines without a control worth reading. For them, Industry 4.0 does not start with new equipment; it starts with connecting what is already on the floor so every machine reports its status, output and stops, live. Tablets do that on any machine in an afternoon; auto-count boxes and controller connections make it hands-free where a machine justifies it.

Public support exists on both levels. Nationally, the Ministry of Heavy Industries runs SAMARTH Udyog Bharat 4.0, whose centres run Industry 4.0 awareness, training and demonstrations for manufacturers including MSMEs. In Gujarat, the Industries Commissionerate and the District Industries Centre (DIC) in each district administer the state’s MSME assistance schemes, which have included support for adopting software and ERP. Terms change from scheme to scheme, so confirm what applies to your unit with your DIC before you count on it.

We come from Rajkot. Saurashtra towns — Morbi, Jamnagar, Gondal, Junagadh, Bhavnagar — are often same-week. Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Anand, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi and Kachchh are grouped into scheduled visits, usually within two weeks.
